Business cards are a necessary evil. I spend so much time fussing over them, only to realize they're likely thrown out by the recipient. I know I don't tend to keep business cards, myself, unless I've specifically asked for them. I hate the idea of people simply tossing them in the garbage - more for the 'green' factor than for any loss of sales that may result - so I decided to make my cards into something useful. I buy my business cards from Moo, and have for some time. I love their cards. They're just about half the size of a regular business card, and Moo is integrated with Flickr, Etsy, and other sites so creating your cards is easy. The front of the card showcases a photo of your work (or whatever else you choose), and the back has ample room for text. The size and shape makes the mini cards perfect for bookmarks.
So, I took my handy (really, everyone should have one) leather punch, and made a hole in the top middle of each card. I strung some thin, handspun silk yarn through the hole, knotted it, and there you go - bookmark. Hopefully something that will be snugged in between the pages of a customer's favorite book, instead of in the trash can.
That's a great idea!

That's clever! I have to order new cards and had my designer set it up for regular business cards. hmmm...wonder if I could tweak it. I like the idea that I can have several different photos available for the cards.
